Lanier Islands is hosting a fantastic New Year’s Eve celebration for those staying at the Legacy Lodge. Starting at 6 pm, adults 21 and over can enjoy cocktails, a chef-prepared buffet dinner, and live music from Party Nation in the grand ballroom. Kids ages 4 to 12 can party the night away at a Dr. Seuss-themed New Year’s Eve Party that begins at 5:30 pm – they will enjoy a costume contest, kid-friendly buffet dinner, karaoke, games, and a cider toast to bring in the new year! Head to Downtown Atlanta for the 30th annual Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta, billed as the largest New Year’s Eve celebration in the Southeast! Gates will open at 6 pm, and the fun will be begin at 7 pm with live music from Better than Ezra, 112, and Jagged Edge. At the stroke of midnight, the giant, dazzling peach will reach its final point of descent, and the sky will illuminate with brilliant fireworks. Due to limited parking, attendees are encouraged to take MARTA to Underground Atlanta. Temperatures will be chilly and rain is in the forecast, so bring your umbrellas and dress accordingly! If the kids can’t make it till midnight, you’ll love the Early New Year’s Eve Celebration at Stone Mountain Park. Enjoy the park’s ongoing Christmas celebration all afternoon and into the early evening. Right after the Snow Angel Snowfall and Fireworks at 8:30 pm, the New Year’s Eve fun will begin! Meet costumed characters, enjoy lively tunes, and participate in dance-a-longs. The countdown will begin at 8:59 pm, followed by a celebration of snowfall and fireworks at the stroke of 9:00.
