Gwinnett Schools Recognized for Fostering Healthy Environments

Posted: Jan 30, 2018

Three dozen Gwinnett County schools have been recognized by the state of Georgia for fostering healthy school environments for students, staff, and the community!

The Governor’s Shape Honor Roll recognizes elementary, middle, and high schools for their dedication to creating a healthy school environment and a culture of wellness for staff, students, and community. Schools were assessed on factors such as weekly recess; regularly scheduled fitness programs before and after school; percentage of students enrolled in PE class; and the establishment of school wellness committees. Schools could earn recognition in four categories: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Eight Gwinnett schools received the highest Platinum Award! Four schools received the Gold Award, and an additional 24 schools received Silver or Bronze awards. For a complete list of awarded schools, visit the Gwinnett County Schools website.
